About the Artist: Tim Hanley
In truth, songwriting has always been a thread in Tim Hanley's life. In his early years, a powerful religious experience profoundly changed his direction. Often when he wondered about things, he would begin to get vivid images—much like memories—related to those people or subjects. Many of these impressions were later confirmed as accurate, revealing insights that seemed to arise from somewhere deeper within. Influenced by the work of philosophers like William James—who described transformative spiritual experiences as windows into deeper truths—Tim returned to college to study philosophy, searching for a framework to understand what he had seen and felt. During that time, he performed music and wrote poetry and songs, blending spiritual questions with personal storytelling.

Now, years later and recently diagnosed with early-stage dementia, Tim has returned to songwriting as a way to stay connected—to his memories, his loved ones, and his sense of self. Writing helps keep his mind active and his soul engaged. Most of the songs he writes today are drawn from real experiences and relationships, shaped by memory, reflection, and love. Some are deeply personal. Others explore spiritual or philosophical ideas. All are expressions of beauty and connection.
